Poker is a card game, played by a group of people. The game of poker is one of the most popular type of card games played by two or more people. In Poker, players with fully or partially concealed cards make bets into a central pot, which is later awarded to the remaining player or players with the best combination of cards.
When saying Poker, some people also refer to Video Poker or Casino type Stud Poker. These terms should not be confused with the Poker game we are referring to.
Poker is a very popular game in America. It is important to note that there are many variations of the poker game.
Most people categorize the different poker games as draw poker, stud poker, community card poker (a.k.a. "widow game"), and miscellaneous poker games. The most played poker games of the first three categories are five-card draw, seven-card stud, and Texas hold 'em, respectively.
Each of these poker game types can be a common starting point for learning games of the type.
